Delete Your Account

You can permanently delete your Gaffer account and all associated personal data at any time. This page explains how, what gets deleted, what we're required to keep, and how long the process takes.

1. How to delete your account

In the app

Once the Gaffer iOS and Android apps are available, you'll be able to delete your account directly from the app: go to Settings → Account → Delete Account, confirm, and your account is scheduled for permanent deletion immediately — no need to contact support.

By email — works right now, no account or app needed

Whether or not you have the app installed, or you've already uninstalled it, you can request deletion by emailing info@mygaffer.co.uk from the email address on your account, with the subject line "Delete my Gaffer account". We verify the request and process the deletion manually — this route works today and will continue to work alongside in-app deletion once it ships.

2. What gets deleted

Once a deletion request is confirmed, we permanently remove:

• Your account and login credentials
• Personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, and phone number
• Session and squad data you created as an organiser
• Push notification tokens tied to your account

We also revoke the underlying authentication session and any associated third-party sign-in tokens — including Sign in with Apple credentials, where that sign-in method has been used — so no other service retains a live token tied to your Gaffer account after deletion.

3. What we're required to keep

A small amount of data is retained after deletion, strictly for legal and integrity reasons:

• Financial records — match fee payment records processed via Stripe are retained for 7 years to meet HMRC record-keeping requirements. These are transaction records, not your live account.
• Anonymised league and match history — to preserve the integrity of league standings and match reports for other players, your personal identity (name, account link) is scrubbed from historical records, but anonymised match statistics — such as appearances, results, and awards tied to an anonymised record rather than your name — may remain as part of the shared league history.

4. Timeline and permanence

Deletion requests are completed within 30 days. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone — there is no account deactivation or recovery option. Once your account is deleted, we cannot restore your data, and re-joining Gaffer means creating a brand new account.
